Does cognitive behavior therapy Work for anxiety?

I have anxiety, and I want it gone! COMPLETELY! I want my damn life back so I’m open to all suggestions. I wouldn’t mind becoming friends with a few people whom have learned to conquer theirs. I just need help and people who actually understand.

There are lots of different types of anxiety, so the treatment will vary, depending on whether you have a more generalized sort of anxiety versus a phobia, social anxiety, panic disorder, or post traumatic stress disorder. The first step would be to see a therapist to get a proper diagnosis. Medication can help in the short-term for some types of anxiety. Exposure is the best treatment for anxiety. Learning relaxation skills and changing your thought patterns is what CBT would teach you. If you have insurance, you may want to seek therapy to help you to learn CBT skills. You could also purchase a workbook, such as The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook, but it will depend on which type of anxiety you have.
