Dog-sitting preparation?
I’m going away for 10 days and I’m leaving my puppy with my mom’s good friend. I feel so guilty but I don’t really have much choice. I know she’s going to give him as much love as she can. She even said she would send her cat to her mothers place while he’s there.
I was reading somewhere that I could leave one of my shirts with him in his bed so he can always smell me, but I’m also worried about separation Anxiety; even though I might not even need to worry about it.
He’s almost 8 months old and I’ve had him since Feb. There’s no chance he won’t remember me when I get back right? Anything else that I can do to make his stay better?

Anyway, dogs can remember smell just like you can. Imagine you haven’t smelled a campfire marshmallow for 3 years, but suddenly smell one – you know exactly what it is!
Our lovely little friends will remember you without any help (especially since your trip is only 10 days). Please don’t feel guilty, as you also need to live your own life for a while!! Your little friend will be so happy when you get home!
It’s really nice that your mom’s friend said that she would send her cat away for a while since that is just a really nice offer (not that it would make your cute guy forget you!), but will make his stay away from you much more pleasant.
The only thing that you might be able to do to make his stay “better” (not that you really need to worry about it), but how about a favorite chew toy, or favorite ball, or favorite snack? If they even have one familiar smell around them (yes, I’m merging taste and smell here since they are quite alike), then he will be just fine!
