Getting a dog, Rough Collie or Whippet?
I’m an experienced dog owner and I really want both of these dogs, but I can only choose 1 
. I love the loyalty, long flowing coat, and graceful dignity that the collie tends to have, but I also love the thin, fast greyhound look to the Whippet. Plus I’ve heard Whippets are great indoors and don’t have much of the doggie odor. I think they are both gorgeous dogs. I have a decent sized yard and I would take them to a local park to get exercise often. However, I’m a nurse so I do work odd hours at times. I need a dog that tends to be ok if left indoors and isn’t prone to Anxiety. Has anyone ever owned either of these breeds and could give me your opinion?? Thanks!!
And please don’t get on my case about not getting a mutt from a shelter, every dog I’ve ever had growing up was a shelter dog and I loved them very much. 
Whippets will do well in a house or apartment if they are exercised. They are susceptible to cold weather and do better in arid climates. They need to have a warm, soft bed. The best owner for this breed would be an active owner living in either the city or country, as they are very adaptable to different places.

Rough Coated Collies: Coat sheds dirt easily, but a weekly brushing will keep them in good condition. Collies shed a lot, take extra care during shedding to remove mats and tangles. Smooth Coated Collies: Minimal grooming is necessary. Regular walks or free exercise is necessary to keep a well balanced dog. Play sessions are equal workouts.

It doesn’t matter what your hours are, as long as your dog is well exersized before you leave for work.
