Is it possible for a parent to have separation anxiety disorder when Child goes to school?
I know it’s hard for every parent to send their children off to school, but I think I am over the edge with it. My son definitely has S.A.D. They have to literally pull him off my waist, drag him down the hall & restrain him in the classroom. I can hear him screams & cries all the way down the hall as I am leaving. I hold myself together until he is out of sight & tell him positive things. “You’re a big boy. You can do this. I will be back at xxx time to pick you up.” This has been going on for 2 weeks & I find myself spacing out thinking and worrying about it a lot. I toss and turn in bed and have a hard time sleeping. Is this SAD or just motherly feelings for my son? I have 2 older kids that I’ve gone through this with, but this one seems to be harder & I still have 1 more to go through this with!
hey BM,i have been told im very over protective of my kids and i worry alot,even with my pets,I got told by a teacher-treat the parent!(being me)When there is so much going on in ones life,if affects our family.As i had a lot going on,i soon realized that if i didnt stress as much and i sat and thought things thru and made myself lists,i eventually begun to unwind.I was having to ween myslef off my kids i guess is the best way to put it.Now not everything is fixed,im a stickler when i have to be there when school finishes,i only leave the house for an hour or so when shopping etc,im particular on who’s car my kids go in,etc.I eventually let my youngest walk from the office gate area,to go to class,he started walking with another lil kid,as i soon realized he had no friends as he was upset(teased by others-cry baby) and it disruppted the class from starting lessons.I found an understanding mum,who also helped in class,so it was of best interest to make friends and let the child there is someone else to trust.My eldest is 23,when she was little her screams were like someone was murdering her,and that was just at a friends house and i was going to the shop.I really think your hubby should get more involved here as well,thats not easy either.Restore order in your home by being respected+loved by all,and dont cave in,set the boundries and if there is change-explain this in age appropiate talk,not baby talk and no conflict.Your worrys are interfering with him(as were mine)he is a kid let him be one,and be a happier mum.This was said to me=we all have to grow up,and if i didnt let him be,he will never learn and i will miss the happy times and so will the others.all the best BM,cheers
