my dog has really bad anxiety, what do i do?
my mom has been sick for a very long time, and my dog is like her baby, and my mom has been in the hospital for almost a month now, so my dog is kinda depressed i think, and he has reeeally ban anxiety. when hes depressed or has anxiety, he just chews apart his feet, i try hold his paws with my hands, but he just pushes away, i try to hold his head away but he just pushes away. he usually starts chewing his feet at night. what can i do to make him stop chewing his paws?
I suggest giving your dog Benadryl for his anxiety, it’s been done a lot. Just google it. If you have a 50-100 lb dog give him 1 pill. If it’s a lot smaller try a half a pill. You can give it to him wrapped in a glob of peanut butter so he swallows it whole.
I often use it for my own anxiety, since it makes one sleepy & is like a tranquilizer.
Is it possible to have your dog visit your mom? If he’s small you could sneak him in…if not try to arrange something.
In the mean time, you may have to tape his paws. Give him something to distract him. When my dog was a pup & we’d leave, we’d get her a Puppy Kong. It’s a rubber cylinder that you can fill with food, like peanut butter. You can buy it at most pet stores. They spend hours licking it out & will not be distracted from it!
