Does anxiety cause a burning sensation in the stomach?
I have worried since October about being pregnant from a sexual incident that happened September 25th. I took 6 home pregnancy tests throughout October all negative and my doctor diagnosed me with general anxiety disorder…… And i can’t make my mind stop worrying…I even had a blood pregnancy test done on November 3rd it too was negative.ever since worrying I’ve had constipation diarrhea bloating cramping gas and an on and off burning sensation in the pit of my stomach. I haven’t missed a period and my doctor has me taking 0.5 mg of xanax a day. I was stressing so much I lost ten pounds from not eating. I’m eating better now but can stress and my anxiety do this to me??? I’ve also been to counseling help!
Yes it can.
Besides counselling, GAD patients often need a med like Lexapro, Paxil, etc. They help to “tamp down” the anxiety & help you cope. Ask your doc.

Burns is an American best selling author and an Adjunct Clinical Professor Emeritus in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Stanford University School of Medicine.
