Anxiety Assessment

How to handle my anxiety attacks?

I’m in my final semester of University and am involved in a large group project. There are four other organizational team members (producers) and 25 crew (it’s a film project). The lack of help from the other team members in completing the project is causing me to have frequent (as in up to three in a day) anxiety attacks – nausea, heart racing, lump in the throat and headache. I find myself crying all the time when I’m alone, and feel like an utter failure. The smallest thing will cause me to burst in to tears and my ability to do any University work at all has been severely crippled. How do I deal with my anxiety attacks so I can finish my degree without going crazy? I’ve spoken to my lecturer about the group project and he has offered me an alternative piece of assessment in light of the circumstances. Should I take it? I won’t get as higher grades if I see the group project through. What can I do to manage these feelings and get on with my work?

Find a behavioral therapist or hypnotist who can help you build the skill to overcome this speed-bump in your life.

The project is secondary to that. Personally, I’d recommend USING the project for this greater purpose so that you’ll be over the issue for good.

Evading something like that creates a limiting affect on your life – what else would you have to evade or avoid in order to live life?

College should be about shattering your limitations. Seize the opportunity to do that now so your life will be free and open to possibilities.

Anxiety disorders are significant mental health illnesses that impair lives and cost society millions of dollars in health care expenses and lost productivity. Greater awareness of anxiety disorders is essential for both the general public and health professionals if those who suffer from them are to be identified, receive proper treatment, and have a chance at leading fulfilling lives. To that end, Anxiety begins with a historical overview of the ways in which anxiety disorders have been understood, from the prehistoric era until the present time, examining the disorders from the perspectives of conceptualization, classification, research, and treatment. Subsequent chapters examine these themes in light of our current understanding and approaches to anxiety disorders. Current diagnostic and assessment methods are discussed, as are modern treatment options. The book concludes with a survey of the future directions in research for the understanding and treatment of anxiety disorders.

Assessment Scales in Depression and Anxiety

Assessment Scales in Depression and Anxiety

$109.95

There are a number of books recently published on assessment scales for depression and anxiety. However, these books are generally more detailed than clinicians require, are specific to one or other condition, or involve specialty populations (children, geriatrics). Hence, there is still a need for a simple-to-use book that encompasses all of the major depression and anxiety assessment scales of interest to clinicians. To meet the needs of clinicians treating patients with depressive and anxiety disorders, this volume brings together empirically validated assessment scales. Such a volume will serve several purposes for clinicians: 1) to illustrate the assessment scales used in clinical trials and research studies; 2) to show how to select an assessment scale, and to decide which scale to use for a particular clinical situation; and3) to provide sample assessment scales to use in their clinical practice. In contrast to other available books dealing with assessment tools, this volume is short, practical, and user-friendly.
